Many Instagrammers visit Munich and capture the city through videos, articles and photos. To get an insight into their creative work and to find out what inspired them about Munich, we have put together a questionnaire. This time, Munich resident Linda Mutschlechner @lindarellade shares her sporting tips for Munich.
How sporty is Munich?
To be honest, I don't know of a more sporty city than Munich. The opportunities to train outdoors in nature are enormous: the Englischer Garten or the Isar for jogging, the Eisbach for surfing, the rowing regatta course or the countless swimming pools for swimming, the Alps right on the doorstep: you simply can't be more active outdoors here!
What is your sports highlight in the city?
Definitely the Eisbach surfers – you won't find that anywhere else.
Why is exercise important to you and how do you implement it in Munich?
For me, exercise means life – if I don't move enough or at all for one or two days, I immediately get in a bad mood. I love long walks along the Isar river, earlybird rides on my racing bike in the foothills of the Alps or simply training in a group like EisbachFit for an hour in the morning at sunrise. I've also recently started playing tennis: Munich has a lot of really beautiful courts!
What three activities would you recommend to sporty visitors?
Drifting through the Eisbach, a sunrise run through the Olympic Park or the English Garden and you should definitely grab a bike and ride along the Isar.
Do you have any tips on how to present yourself in a sporty way in a holiday photo without it looking totally posed?
It's always best if it's not posed. But it's best to take the pictures before and not after the activities and early in the morning or in the evening when the sun is low: The light is simply softer then.
Do you know what a Kloana Kniabiesler* is?
To be honest, I've never heard of it.
*In Bavarian, a Kloana Kniabiesler is a teenager / young person.
